The 4:30am Club

My new adventure for 2019 has begun…I am going to spend the next few months taking 100% responsibility for myself, investing in myself by learning new things, and pushing myself waaayyyyy out of my comfort zone. I am on my journey to great success, wealth, happiness, health and wellbeing. I am going to go through the looking glass to a life where my goals are realized. I am soooo excited, nervous, and happy…I am finally taking action.

“Even if you improved by 1 percent every day, within a year you would be 365 percent better.” – Carrie Green

I read the 5am Club by Robin Sharma, funny how the Universe just knows when to send you a book, just when you need to hear its words the most…..almost magical isn’t it?

I actually get up at 4:30am instead of 5am as i need to be at work by 7am (get ready, train..) and today is my first actual day. I did a trial run yesterday and Robin is right, “Jump out of bed and start your day. The more time you lie in bed after the alarm clock goes off, the greater the likelihood that the chatter of your mind will say something like “stay in bed. Sleep a bit more. You deserve it.” And boy oh boy did my chatter talk, it was Sunday morning and my mind made sure to remind me of that fact and I slept until 8am…..However I did do the 20/20/20 Formula and felt great all day..the energy I had…allowed me to get done everything I needed to get done.

Join me…..we can change the world together, one 4:30 am at a time… it may not be easy or fun but the reward will be life changing….

“All change is hard at first, messy in the middle and so gorgeous at the end.” – Robin Sharma

This year I am obessed with women helping women.

“When you know you’re destined for greatness, your potential haunts you, it keeps you up at night. You won’t feel complete until you succeed.” – Mama Zara

I want to do all I can to inspire and empower as many women as possible!!!!!!!

I want to help women to step up to their dreams, turn their ideas into reality, and build successful businesses!!!!

My word is “Fearless”. I am living Fearlessly through 2019 so my life becomes limitless!!!!

I also started a regular supplements to my skin care routine (Girl I Wash My Face!!) and the Bio-Cellulose is a must in my routine!!! Robin Sharma says I should be having a massage twice a week, so this is my alternative to a massage twice a week. Bio- Cellulose Mask is like having a facial, mask and massage to my face. Gives me 30 minutes of “me” time, where I reflect on my day and all the things I am greatful for.

The Bio-cellulose is a pure, plant-based material derived from coconut water. The mask includes oat kernel extract, orchid extract an sodium hyaluronate, known for its skin-conditioning benefits. Doesn’t that sound like a spa treatment……….aaaahhhhhhhh……. especially with this cold weather we are having -16 degrees and -20 degrees and lets not even talk about windshield…yikes!!!!!!

Mascara Tips

Todays blog is about mascara, one of my MUST haves! Especially for the Holiday Season.

Our eyes are the windows to our soul, so we always want them looking their best. That is why your eyelashes are the one feature you should never neglect when doing your makeup.

Okay, so how long has it been since you changed your mascara???? Tell me, don’t lie….

Well, it’s recommend you change your mascara roughly every 3 months. By 2.5 months my mascara is nearly empty anyways… I have noticed over the years that there is typically only enough mascara for 3 months of daily use in a mascara tube. So if you are using your mascara daily, you shouldn’t have it longer than 3, 3.5 months….

Why 3 months you ask? Well, every time you use your mascara or apply another coat your wand is going from your eye back into the tube, to the tube to your eyes and so forth…After 3 months, bacteria can start to grow in the tube which could cause eye infections. And not one of us want that! You may also notice that the formula becomes affected by exposure to air and may flake, clump or start drying out. If your wand is getting a little clumpy, try soaking the wand with contact lense eye solution and wipe it off with paper towel.

TIP FOR YOU: One way to remember to change your mascara regularly is to change it when the seasons change. Simple! ❄🍃🌞🍂

MASCARA 101:
💜if it’s 3-5 months old, TOSS it!
💙if is smells like vinegar, TOSS it!
💚Dont pump it, swirl it (pumping adds air=dried up mascara😖)
💛Rinse your wand every few weeks- products dries up there first.
🧡Save your wand- it makes a great brow comb!

Now lets look at some tips to help you get the most natural lashes look……

TIP FOR YOU: Mix the colors of your mascara. If you are going for a natural look, apply your first coat of mascara in black (close to the roots of your lashes) and finish off with a dark brown. This gives you depth but a softer overall look. For this look I normally use Mary Kay’s Ultimate Mascara in Brown and Black.

TIP FOR YOU: Use a primer!!!! Say it again, USE A PRIMER!!! Let lashes and brows live up to their fullest potential. Allow your brows and lashes to grow and multiply…Mary Kay Lash & Brow Building Serum delivers results in just 30 days.

  • Builds thicker- and fuller-looking lashes
  • Improves the look of thin, sparse lashes and brows
  • Lash volume is improved
  • Lashes look maximized
  • Helps reduce lash loss during makeup removal.

This stuff is liquid gold!!!! I dare you to try and tell me it doesn’t work!!! 100% guaranteed!!

TIP FOR YOU: You SHOULD never curl your lashes after you have applied mascara. But, you should apply a lash primer before you curl them. Applying a primer before you curl your lashes will give you extra hold on that curl throughout the day.

If you have never used a lash curler, don’t be afraid to ask someone how!! Using a curler creates an eye-opening effect and this tool is used to enhance your lashes. But, can be hard on your lashes if not used properly!

TIP FOR YOU: To customize your lash look, try switching up the direction you hold your wand: Hold it horizontally for thicker lashes, vertically to coat each lash for a more natural finish, and wiggle it from lash line to ends to help hold curl.

Also, try coating the top of your lashes with a wiggle first before applying to your bottom part of your lashes, gives you more body. Meaning, coat both sides of your lashes.

Remember, a mascara wand matters and its shape and brissels make a difference, not each mascara will do the same! So before you buy your mascara, ask yourself, “what do I want my mascara to do for me!” Do you want Volume or Lengthening or Magnify…Maximize…Multiply the look of your lashes???? How do you want your eyes to look…the windows of your soul?

So what macara do I use???

Mary Kay Lash Intensity….why you ask?

Because….

  • it expands and extends my lashes with its multidirectional wand.
  • it gives me 200% more volume, it’s like adding the thickness of two lashes onto every one, plus, I get 84% longer-looking lashes!!!!!
  • its mineral-rich.
  • its high-impact pigment envelops each lash in a perfect shade of black.
  • its formulated with Pro Vitamin B (to help protect, condition and strengthen lashes), an emollient fatty-acid compound (to help prevent lash breakage) and vitamin E (a well-known protective antioxidant). That’s triple treat for fabulous lashes!

The next question you should be asking yourself is WHY ARE YOU NOT USING Lash Intensity Mascara????

And if all else fails, slap on a pair of lashes and visit Chloe Eng @ChloeKatLash
https://www.chloekatlash.com/ She is amazing and does an amazing job!

There is no limit these days when it comes to your lashes. And remember, you are never fully dressed without your lashes!

If you would like to set up an appointment with me to try all the Mary Kay Mascaras, i will be working over the holidays!

With Mary Kay you can try before you buy and everything is 100% guaranteed!

Timewise Replenshing Serum + C

The body can’t produce vitamin C on its own, nor can it store it, which is why you NEED, need, need, need a continuous supply.

According to the experts, vitamin C plays a significant role in stimulating the synthesis of skin-firming collagen,
which is why extracts of this vitamin are considered beneficial as a skin care ingredient.

Need a lift?

TimeWise Replenishing Serum+C has benefits that can help. This antioxidant-rich serum is formulated with ingredients that help keep existing collagen from breaking down. It also contains ingredients known to support elastin, a protein that gives skin its elasticity or “spring.”

The overall effect? Positively uplifting.

Key ingredients and functions:

Pomegranate extract (Punica granatum) Pomegranate is often referred to as a “superfruit” because of the large number of vitamins it contains. This fruit has a high level of vitamin C, other vitamins and antioxidants, and has been used for centuries to help reduce the effects of oxidative stress.

Kakadu Plum extract (Terminalia
ferdinandiana) This extract is derived from the kakadu plum, a fruit reported to have the highest concentration of Vitamin C. For example, the amount of vitamin C in 3 ½ ounces of kakadu
plum is 3000 mg, while the same amount of orange contains just 50 mg.

Camu Camu extract (Myrciaria dubia) The fruit of the camu camu tree, which is the source of this extract, is known to have the second highest level of vitamin C of any fruit. The tree grows in the rainforests of South America and is extremely tolerant of the extreme weather conditions found there.

Acerola Cherry extract (Malpighia
punicifolia) The acerola cherry is especially rich in vitamins C and A, and this fruit has been shown to have powerful antioxidant benefits.

Black Currant Berry extract (Ribes nigrum) Black currant berries contain high levels of vitamin C and other vitamins and minerals.

Argan seed extract (Argania spinosa) A botanical extract derived from the argan tree, which grows only in Africa. Groves of argan trees provide the last barrier against the desert.

This Vitamin C Serum is my FAVEEE. It smells so good (No added fragrance but Kakadu Plum Extract gives it a glorious fresh scent). This stuff does it all – brightens, evens complexion, reduces hyperpigmentation/acne scarring, reduces fine lines/wrinkles & improves texture. Watch your skin drink up this amazing vitamin complex & GLOW!!!

Celiac Disease & Gluten

Women now a days seem to be more sensitive and have more allergies. I am no expert on anything to do with diseases nor am I a doctor, I am a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant and what that means to me is that I learn everything I can about our products so I can help women have the same amazing skin as I do, the glow I do, and be happy with their skin and skin care products.

I love to help people, it is what I was born to do, be of service.

I read this off the Mary Kay Canada website and thought it deserves a share and read, love to receive comments:

“Mary Kay products are not tested specifically for gluten content, and we cannot guarantee our products are completely gluten-free. For individuals who want to use Mary Kay products, we hope the information below is helpful.

The Company adheres to strict production standards. We follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for all of our products and ensure equipment used for processing is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized prior to reuse. The ingredients of any Mary Kay product are listed on each individual product’s packaging, as required by law in Canada.

Research has shown topical application of gluten does not produce a celiac-related skin reaction, and a responsible, scientific authority indicates nonmouth-area cosmetic products are not of concern unless swallowed. However, some individuals may still choose to avoid nonlip-area personal care products potentially containing sources of gluten to help avoid ingestion via hands, contact with food, etc. If you experience challenges resulting from use of any personal care product, consultation with a qualified physician may be helpful in determining if you have additional sensitivities or allergies.

We have evaluated the ingredients currently used at Mary Kay to provide a list of possible gluten-containing ingredients derived from wheat, rye, barley, and oats. This list can be used to help guide product selection; however, because we use a large number of ingredients provided by multiple suppliers, it is not possible to guarantee our products are completely gluten-free.

Although the list has been evaluated to the best of our knowledge, the list may not be exhaustive and may change with new product introductions and possible formula changes. The following information applies only to current, regular-line Mary Kay products and does not include limited edition products (i.e. products sold only for a limited time, while supplies last).

The following ingredients are derived from wheat, rye, barley or oats:

  • Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Extract
  • Dextran
  • Gliadin
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein Hydroxypropyl Polysiloxane
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein PG-Propyl Silanetriol
  • Hydroxypropyl Cyclodextrin
  • Maltodextrin
  • Oat Flour
  • Saccharomyces Cerevisiae Extract
  • Secale Cereale (Rye) Seed Extract
  • Yeast Extract

(The Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil used in Mary Kay products is derived from soy, cottonseed or palm kernel.)

Individuals who are under the care of a physician or who have known medical conditions potentially affected by use of personal care products should consult with a physician to discuss product use. A physician can best advise your customer of which products/product types might be appropriate for her. Ultimately, it is each individual’s responsibility to work with a physician to make an informed product choice based on individual needs. Once specific guidance is provided by a physician (e.g. exact ingredients of interest, etc.), we will be happy to provide further assistance.

So what is “Gluten” anyways??

It is the protein found in wheat, rye and barley flours that reacts when mixed with water. Such a little simple thing that causes so much pain for people.

So what is “Celiac disease”??

It is an auto-immune disorder in which eating gluten causes the lining of the body’s small intestine to become inflamed. Many women suffer from this and I send out lots of love to you 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Ladies I am here for you, to help guide you through this big world of skin care and cosmetics. You can always trust me, I won’t lie, make up anything or tell you I know something when I don’t. I am here to help!

Beauty Industry First..

What is its superpower??

It’s not a liquid. It’s not a powder. It’s a revolutionary skin care innovation so small, it can sit on your fingertip; so powerful, it can supercharge your serum. It is small but mighty!
You know that excitement and “gotta-have” feeling when a new product comes on the market….a product that is a “Beauty Industry First”? It’s alluring, right?

Today, my blog is about the TimeWise Vitamin C Activating Squares, oooooo aaaaaaaa sounds healthy….it is also the Product of the Month for November.

A little square packed with Vitamin C has the power to make your skin feel noticeably softer and firmer in just two weeks. When used with one of our powerful serums, the squares become supercharged, improving skin tone and fine lines.

In just two weeks, skin looks more radiant and even-toned, and fine lines and wrinkles look improved. Love improving wrinkles!!

BENEFITS AT-A-GLANCE

  • This beauty-industry first uses breakthrough technology that delivers pure vitamin C to your skin in a tiny, dissolvable square.
  • When dissolved in the palm of your hand, a stabilized derivative of vitamin C contained in the square gets transformed into pure vitamin C on your skin.
  • When paired with a Mary Kay® face serum, it supercharges that serum with a benefits boost.

Fresh every time. Pure vitamin C degrades and loses its power over time when exposed to air, light or water. But now that problem’s solved with a breakthrough in technology that keeps the pure vitamin C stable until you unlock its power with
every use.

Why does my skin need vitamin C?

Just as vitamins are important to your health, vitamin C is important for helping skin fight the multiple signs of aging. And since the body can’t produce vitamin C on its own or store it for long periods of time, it needs to be replenished on regular basis. This powerhouse vitamin is known to help skin look more radiant and even-
toned, but it also plays a role in supporting natural collagen and elastin to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

According to dermatologists and research scientists, vitamin C plays a significant role in stimulating the synthesis of skin-firming collagen, which is why extracts of this vitamin are considered beneficial as a skin care ingredient.

🧡🧡Love my Vitamin C 🧡🧡

I use my Vitamin C Activing Squares twice a week, they only add a minute to my night time routine. Being pure vitamin C, I recommend night time use only.

🧡 Love Vanessa 🧡

Lip-luscious

As the product of the month is Apple Berry lipstick, thought I would give you a few tips…

For a long lasting lip color, after you have applied that gorgeous lip color, lay a Kleenex tissue over your lips and brush on some translucent powder over it to set the gorgeous color. The tissue acts as a shield to your lip color protecting it from losing its vibrancy.

Oh why, oh why does lipstick bleed??

The moisture from lipstick spreads to the dryer area of your skin. I recommend using more moisturizer around your lips, or even a firming eye cream. This will also help to prevent those pesky wrinkles around your mouth.

Just as bright paint looks best on primed walls, so does lipstick. For long lasting lipstick…prime your lips and around your lips.

Keep wearing those beautiful natural, colorful and bold lips.

💜Vanessa

Kissable Lips

Lips can take the most simple look from drab to glam with just a quick swipe of colors.

I wasn’t always a lipstick girl, i never wore lipstick and hardly wore lipgloss. It was because I didn’t know how to use lipstick or wear lipstick. I know it may sound silly and may look simple, but for me…it was a mystery. Now, I love anything from a bold red to a simple gloss. I have spent a lot of time perfecting these lips of mine and excited to share with you some of my do’s and don’ts.

DO: Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate, did I say Exfoliate?? Nothing looks worse than packing on layer after layer of lipstick with the attempt to hydrate your lips and have a beautiful lip and Hello crusties! Expecially if you are a licker like me, you think by licking your lips you are hydrating, nope, your drying them out and making them crusty!! I use Mary Kay Satin Lip scrub, it is a light exfoliate on your lips. It removes all the dead skin so you are working with a smooth surface for that perfect pout and kissable lips!

DO: Prime your lips. I love love love Mary Kay Timewise Age-fighting lip primer, LOVE! This will help with the longevity of your lipstick, but will also help so that your lipstick doesn’t “bleed” outside your lip line. BONUS!!Use the primer on lips, inside and outside of your lip line, it actually helps to reduce and prevent those fine lines around your mouth and prevents lipstick and lip gloss from feathering and bleeding. WHOOT WHOOT!

DO: Lip Liner. Line your lips effortlessly shaping with a soft creamy and waterproof Mary Kay lip liner that is a close match to your lip color AND fill in your entire lip. This is key for the longevity of your lip color.

DON’T: Forget to fill in your entire lip with lip liner. Lip liner should be used for more than just “lining” the lip. Color your entire lip in with the liner to maximize your coverage and staying power. Another added bonus, all Mary Kay lip liner has a sharpener built right into it and comes in 8 shades. Yes please! I always start with:

  • the cupid’s bow and emphasize your lips’ natural “m” shape;
  • then outline just a little outside your natural edge of your lower lip to make it look fuller (unless you already have those beautiful full lips and then you do the opposite, a little on the inside);
  • when outlining, use short strokes, easier to apply; and
  • color in lips

DO: Use a lip brush to apply your lipstick. You likely aren’t going to do this every time you apply, but for special occasions or if you are having family photos or something like that, take the extra time to use a lip brush. You are looking for a brush with a lot structure and sharp edges to keep those lines straight.

DON’T: Be scared of a bold lip. When you do your eyes in a more natural or nude way, play those lips up with some color. But, remember to try and match cool colors on your eyes with cool colors on your lips. Warm colors on your eyes and, you guessed it, warm colors on your lips. Mary Kay lipsticks have highly pigmented shades which deliver stay-true colors. Express your mood, express your style – express yourself!!

DO: Apply lipstick, blot on a tissue, apply again, blot and re-apply. Your lipstick shouldn’t move for the rest of the day. But, if you are a big coffee drinker like me and who doesn’t use a straw, you may need to reapply your lipstick…may…it really does last!⠀⠀

Mary Kay’s Product of the Month for October is an exclusive lip look:

  1. TimeWise Age Fighting Lip Primer;
  2. Lip Liner in Rose; and
  3. Gel Semi-Shine Lipstick in Apple Berry.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What are some of your lipstick do’s and don’ts?

Love ❤

The Best Relationships are build on TRUST

The following information will help with some of the difficult questions you may receive, read, hear or have regarding ingredients and product safety with Mary Kay products. Mary Kay goes beyond what is required by law! Mary Kay leaves nothing to chance when it comes to product safety.

Ingredient Myths

When it comes to cosmetic ingredients and safety, you can’t believe everything you read, hear or see these days. Chances are you’ve probably seen a “beauty-gone-bad” story and/or video about the evils of lipstick or mineral oil on television or on social media (i.e. Facebook). So how can you separate truth from fiction and feel good about looking good? Here are a few facts to set the record straight and to help you feel great about your Mary Kay products you use and purchase.

Myth: Lead in lipstick can be the kiss of death!

Fact: Lead is a naturally occurring material, and there are small amounts of lead in the air we breathe and in the water we drink every day.  It’s a fact that lipsticks, along with many consumer products, naturally contain very small trace amounts of lead, but the experts agree that the amounts are insignificant and absolutely safe. The levels are well below the daily safe limits established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.

Health Canada also has done a “Risk Management Strategy for Lead” and I note the website link below. Lead is a naturally-occurring element found in rock and soil and is found in all environmental media in Canada, as well as in food and drinking water. Lead is currently subject to numerous federal risk management initiatives directed toward consumer products, cosmetics, drinking water, food, natural health products, therapeutic products, tobacco, and environmental media, including household dust, soil and air. There are strict regulatory limits in Canada for domestic manufacture, importation and sale of traditional products and cosmetics. Cosmetic Regulations (2002) – Lead and all its associated products are prohibited ingredients in cosmetic products.

Myth: TALC is a bad word!

Fact: Talc has been getting a lot of bad press lately because of the recent popularity of mineral-based powders. Talc used in cosmetics is a specially-refined grade and has a proven scientific record. While it’s true that this natural ingredient can be used for non-cosmetic purposes, rest assured that the grade of talc used in cosmetics is perfectly safe for consumers. Do you research! Ask me questions, if I don’t know the answer I can always ask Mary Kay Canada.

Myth: If it says natural or organic, it’s BETTER (naturally!).

Fact: Organic, natural and botanical are buzzwords in the beauty industry right now. Sometimes the benefits associated with these products and ingredients are greatly exaggerated. There is no scientific data that supports the blanket statement that natural, organic or botanical ingredients are always better. At Mary Kay, our goal is to develop the safest and most effective products possible, including organic, natural or botanical ingredients when they provide a benefit. In fact, most Mary Kay color and skin care products contain a number of key natural and botanical ingredients that research has proven to be effective. Again do your research, as laws and regulation may allow companies to say Organic cause 95% or more of the ingredients are Organic and not because all ingredients are Organic.

Myth: Why do some people claim that paraben-free cosmetics are better?

Fact: First of all, the word parabens just sounds scary, doesn’t it? The fact is, a world without parabens would be very scary indeed! Parabens are used extensively in cosmetics, foods and even medicines because they function as preservatives and protect products from microbiological contamination. Paraben safety has been studied extensively by various governmental regulatory agencies around the world, and none of those agencies has found any scientific data that support the rumors that parabens are harmful to human health.

Myth: Mineral oil clogs pores and is bad for your skin.

Fact: Cosmetic-grade mineral oil is extremely safe as proven by science. Mary Kay sells cosmetic products in 35 markets around the world, and cosmetic-grade mineral oil is considered safe by ALL the governmental regulatory agencies in all of those markets. For example, baby oil is almost 100 percent mineral oil, and you can’t get any safer than that! You also may have heard that mineral oil clogs the pores or suffocates the skin. All of the Mary Kay products that include mineral oil have been proven to be non-comedogenic, and that means they won’t clog pores. For more trustworthy information regarding ingredients and safety in cosmetics, visit Cosmetics Info (www.cosmecticsinfo.org) and our website(www.marykay.ca).

Hypoallergenic Claims

Hypoallergenic is a term typically associated with products that have been formulated and extensively tested to minimize the possibility of irritation and allergic reactions. At Mary Kay, consumer safety is our first priority, and only after an ingredient is thoroughly researched and tested utilizing the most advanced technologies available is it considered safe for use by Mary Kay. This rigorous testing is performed or supervised by internal and external experts who assess our products for their irritancy and allergy potential. We are able to say that Mary Kay® skin care products are hypoallergenic as a result of our thorough product and ingredient testing and stringent quality controls. To find out which Mary Kay® products are considered hypoallergenic, search for “hypoallergenic” and peruse the products that come up in the search results.

Personal Branding..

Building your personal brand is not a quick process, nor is it something you should do by yourself.

Identifying what makes you unique, why you are in business and how to communicate this to your target audience takes time!!

Understanding the value this brings to your business will ultimately help you market yourself more effectively to your audience and build a personal identity, voice and story that your customer can identify with, relate and be inspired by.

Your personal brand strategy needs to be reflected in every single way you communicate with your audience on and off line.

Find the right experts to help you.

As entrepreneurs we wear many hats. Be realistic about your strengths, weaknesses and the aspects of running your business you enjoy the most. Build up a dream team of experts who can help you with the areas that you aren’t so good at. Being clear about what makes you who you are will make these decisions so much easier.

Understanding your personal brand and using it to your advantage is a more strategic way of managing conversations that are already happening around you. We live in an online world and we all have a digital footprint.

What makes you, as a person, attractive to potential customers or clients? What is it that makes you special? Why should someone work with you? Once you have this established, make sure your audience knows what it is.

Consumers like you, what your interests are, where you are flying to next, that amazing chocolate cake recipe or that fun DIY project you did with your kids etc…. makes you appear more human, which attracts more people to you, more relatable.

Have a personal facebook page and a separate business facebook page. Have a Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, Snap Chat Page…stay active on them. Join a few discussion groups and start a few of your own. But, keep all your social media accounts properly maintained.

It’s important that you understand your industry inside and out — know your products, staying up to date on latest trends, breaking news and your competition.

You know your personal brand is strong when you become a source of information.

Strive to be the person media outlets and journalists contact when they need expert advice or information on a popular topic or breaking news.
